Winter Activities on Madeline Island

Winter on the Island is serene and magical. Around 250 people call Madeline Island their home during the winter months. Transportation varies from Ferry to Windsled to Ice Road. Madeline Island offers a variety of amenities including lodging, dining, groceries, shopping and outdoor activities in the Winter. Although, we encourage visitors in the winter to plan accordingly as some amenities, provisions, and dining options may be limited. Explore our Big Bay State ParkBig Bay Town Park or Wilderness Preserve, with miles of beautiful cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing. Our close proximity to the Ice Caves and Lake Superior makes Madeline Island the perfect adventurous Winter Getaway!
