The Madeline Island Ferry Line has been running continuously for two straight years. Typically, the line discontinues service when the lake freezes.
But for the second straight year, an unseasonable winter stopped the lake from freezing over. A flurry of passengers were at the ferry line on Friday. Something that wasn’t the case during most of the winter months.
When the lake didn’t freeze over for the second straight year, that meant no ice road to Madeline Island, and no break in service for the ferry line.
